Field of application

weber.fug 881 is a silicone sealant for use in shops and all interior buildings for movement joints in sanitary areas, kitchens etc. The material has an excellent bonding onto glazed ceramics, enamel, glass and similar materials.


The material can be stored maximum 12 months in cool, dry, frost-free conditions.


Pre-treatment of substrate

Joint flanks must be dry, free of fouling, oil and grease. Loose particles, deposits and residues of old joint sealants must be removed.

Preliminary tasks

  • Avoid three-sided adhesion. The joints must be filled appropriately with weber.sys backfilling rod.
  • The joint edges must be protected with crepe adhesive tape.
  • The joint sealant bonds on glass, enamel, glazed ceramic and other non-porous substrates without primer, if grease has been carefully removed.
  • For anodised surfaces, aluminium, vanadium steel and PVC, use the primer weber.fug 885.
  • For concrete, render, fibre cement, wood, stone and other substrates use the primer weber.fug 884.
  • After a drying time of 30 to 60 minutes for the primer, the joint sealant can be applied.

Directions for use


  • All characteristics are given for +23 °C without draught and a relative humidity rate of 50 %.
  • Higher temperatures and lower humidity accelerate, lower temperatures and higher humidity delay the course of the reaction.
  •  Coponents in the ambient air may result in discolouration of the joint sealant in light shades due to chemical reactions. Such components are aldehyde cleaning agents, preservatives and solvents.
  • Adjacent areas may be soiled when grouting ceramic tiles in outdoor areas or when grouting natural stones. For natural stones use weber.fug 883.
  • Movement joints must be configured so that with due consideration of all movements that can be expected the total deformation of the joint sealant is not exceeded. The instructions specified in DIN 18 540 relative to joint width and backfilling rod must be complied with.


  • The coloured versions of the joint sealant are compatible with paint, but should not be painted over.
  • The joint sealant does not bond on polyethylene, Teflon, rubber, acrylic glass, bitumen and tar. In the case of moulded plastic parts (e.g. corrugated PVC or Plexiglas parts) tension corrosion is possible. The joint sealant may discolour slightly when used on substrates containing softening agents.


Cut the cartridge open above the thread, screw on the spray nozzle and cut to size depending on the desired thickness.

The material is applied from a manual gun or pneumatic gun with pressure that is as constant as possible.

Draw off / smooth down joint sealant within the skin formation period with a spatula, spatula blade, or pointing trowel that is moistened with soapy water. Remove adhesive tape within the skin formation time.

Mechanical cleaning is only possible with weber.sys 992 after curing.
